The Million Dollar Quartet foi um dos encontros mais inusitados - e geniais - da história do rock. Ocorrido a 4 de dezembro de 1956 nos estúdios da Sun Records, gravadora que revelara Elvis Presley dois anos antes. Elvis já não era mais da Sun, já havia assinado com a RCA, mas um dia passava por lá e os geniais Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins e Johnny Cash estavam por lá. Decidiram fazer uma jam session (longuíssima por sinal!) onde incluíram sucessos deles, além de várias canções natalinas e também músicas gospel (os quatro tinham base cristã e fariam discos gospel ao longo da carreira). Entre algumas músicas gospel dessa jam incluam-se: "Jesus Walked That Lonesome Valley", "Just a Little Talk With Jesus", "Blessed Jesus (Hold my Hand)", "On the Jericho Road", "Peace in the Valley", "When God Dips His Love in My Heart", dentre outras, em diversos estilos como gospel, jazz, blues e rockabilly.
